Messaging over the Internet - getting off the 'Internet highways'

Couple of weeks back, WhatsApp changed its privacy policy and Signal saw a boost in new users (external story link). This is a welcome change, for the first time few friends messaged me and told that they are now on Signal. Diversification is definitely a good step.

I picked up ‘The Spy Who Came In From The Cold’ looking at its ratings and because it’s also written by John Le Carre who is author of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Published in 1960s, the book’s style reminded me of that of Sherlock Holmes’ books.

Memory Man

David Baldacci’s Memory Man is the first book of Amos Decker series. Background of Amos is not much different than the general theme of that of the protagonists in thriller books - a tragic past and a gifted ability.

Kafka on the shore

I had read quotes from ‘Kafka on the shore’ in various posts and on social media. I am generally not into fantastic stories, but given the mentions this book receives, decided to give it a try! The book is slightly longer than the book I typically read - it’s about 500 pages.

An attempt to talk to taskserver

Since long I wanted to explore writing code to use a low-level protocol, but I don’t have the patience to read long RFCs and also I haven’t delved into byte-level stuff much. Working with things like these means writing a lot of C code which again I am not particularly interested in.
